Description

Victorian black jet glass oblong button with and incised paisley surface decoration. The Paisley motif and Scottish place the weavers produced the shawls, was adopted from the Kashmir shawls that were given to Queen Victoria as Empress of India which then became a fashion motif. The paisley seed pod is an ancient fertility symbol. This buttons is featured in my book ‘Old Buttons’ on page 26. Brass Shank.
